About QuoteStitch
Last updated 7 October 2026
QuoteStitch joins a run of screenshots into one tall image. Instead of asking you to mark the part worth keeping, it compares the frames, finds the strip that differs, and keeps only that strip after the first frame. It also accepts a video file and pulls the frames out of it.
Who runs it
QuoteStitch is built and maintained by one independent developer. There is no company behind it, no team, and no investor. That is the whole reason it can stay free and stay this narrow: it is a tool one person wanted and could not find.
Because there is no company, there is also no registered office, no VAT number and no legal entity to name. We would rather tell you that plainly than print details that do not exist.
Why it exists
The job is small and repetitive. You take six screenshots of a scene, and the only thing that changes between them is one line of dialogue. Every tool we tried made us mark that line by hand, and then mark it again on the next screenshot.
The frames already contain the answer. If you stack them and look at which rows differ, the caption band falls out of the data. That is the whole idea, and it is the reason this tool exists.
How the band detection works
Every screenshot is downscaled and converted to greyscale. The tool then compares rows across all the frames and scores how much each row changes. The contiguous run of rows with the highest change score is the band. Because the score comes from your actual frames, a fixed percentage is never involved.
For video, the tool samples up to 320 points across the clip and looks for the rows carrying dense horizontal edges, because burned-in subtitles are sharp near-vertical strokes. Camera motion does not fool it. Two different lines share a brightness envelope but not a glyph pattern, so the shape of the strokes decides where one line ends and the next begins.
No text recognition is involved. The tool never reads what the subtitle says, only where it sits and when it changes.
What it deliberately does not do
Plenty of tools do more than this one. QuoteStitch is not a photo collage or grid maker, it is not a meme generator, and it does not merge, convert or resync .srt and .vtt subtitle files. It does not overlay text, apply filters, or export to PDF.
Every feature added here has to survive the same test: does it remove a repetitive step from stitching screenshots? If it does not, it belongs in a different tool.
How it is paid for
Nothing here costs money and nothing requires an account. There is no paid tier and no export limit.
If the site is ever funded by advertising, that will be stated on this page and in the privacy policy before a single ad is shown, because advertising changes what the site loads and what it stores on your device. We are not going to slip that in later.
