Movie quote stitcher
Make a movie quote image without cropping every frame
A movie quote stitcher turns a run of dialogue frames into one tall image. The first frame stays whole; the rest keep only the line that changed.
What a movie quote image is
A movie quote image — sometimes called a dialogue strip or a subtitle collage — is one tall picture made from several frames of the same scene. The first frame carries the shot. Every frame after it contributes one line of dialogue. Read top to bottom, it plays the scene back in a single glance.
It is the standard format for posting a scene on X, Reddit, Instagram, Threads or Facebook, and on Weibo, Xiaohongshu and Douban. It also works in a group chat, where a video would be too much and a single still says too little.
Three steps
- Add the frames. Drag them in, browse, or paste from the clipboard. If you took them in order, the filenames sort naturally and one click puts them back in sequence.
- Let Auto mode find the line. It compares the frames and keeps the strip that actually differs. For a two-line subtitle that means both lines — the strip is measured, not fixed at a percentage.
- Export. Check the preview, nudge the band if you want it tighter, then save a PNG at 1x or 2x. No watermark and no account.
What separates a readable quote image from a bad one
- The first frame is whole. A strip with no establishing shot is just floating text. The first frame is what makes the image a scene.
- The strip contains the whole line. Two-line subtitles are where fixed-percentage croppers fail — they cut the second line off, and the joke stops landing.
- Every frame is the same size. Frames scaled differently do not line up, and the strip drifts sideways as you read down.
- The player UI is gone. Progress bars, pause buttons and subtitles menus belong in the band that gets dropped, not in the final image.
If you only have the video
Screenshotting a scene by hand means pausing, capturing, seeking, pausing again. QuoteStitch also takes the video file directly. Drop in an MP4, MOV or WEBM, and it finds the subtitle band and keeps one frame per line of dialogue — no pausing, no manual capture.
- Video inMP4, MOV, WEBM — anything the browser can play
- Images inPNG, JPG, WEBP
- Long image outPNG at 1x or 2x, at original width or 720 / 1080 / 1440 px
- SamplingUp to 320 points across the clip, so seek time stays bounded
- LimitNo fixed image count. Practical limits come from device memory.
- NeedsSubtitles burned into the picture, not a separate .srt file
It reads shapes, not words
QuoteStitch does not do text recognition. It looks for the rows carrying dense horizontal edges, because burned-in subtitles are sharp near-vertical strokes. Two different lines share a brightness envelope but not a glyph pattern, so the shape of the strokes decides where one line becomes the next. Camera motion does not fool it.
Frequently asked
How do I make a movie quote image?
Screenshot the scene line by line, then drop the frames into QuoteStitch. The first frame is kept whole and every frame after it keeps only the subtitle strip, so the result is one tall dialogue image. If you still have the video, you can skip the screenshots and drop the video file in instead.
Can I use it for TV shows and anime, not just films?
Yes. Anything with burned-in subtitles works — films, series, anime, documentaries, and subtitled clips on social platforms. The tool does not know or care what the source is.
Will the quote image have a watermark?
No. There is no watermark, no sign-up and no export limit.
Do two-line subtitles get cut off?
No. The band is measured from your frames rather than set to a fixed percentage, so a two-line subtitle produces a taller strip. That is the failure mode fixed-percentage croppers have, and it is the main reason this one measures instead.
Can I stitch chat screenshots the same way?
Yes, and the mechanics are the same. The chat header, the input bar and the status bar repeat on every shot, so they land in the detected band and get dropped. See stitching chat screenshots.
